Health Care Reform March 23, 2010

It was inevitable that the debate on this subject would not be assuaged just because the President just signed the Health Reform Act into law. Many on blogs across the country continue to critique and disparage the event now taking place.

According to those that keep track of such things the country is split almost 50/50 on whether or not this is a good outcome or not. Yet if you look at the percentage of Americans who actually voted in 2008 (56.8% in case you were wondering) that 50/50 split rings hollow.

If you are one of the 43.2% that didn’t vote just shut up for you have not earned the right to complain.

As you might have surmised by some of my posts here I am a liberal so much so that sometimes I have problems with right turns. There is currently a debate being discussed on my local radio station as to whether or not the Undiebomber should have the right not to talk after being read his Miranda rights.

My take is that he should be provided the same rights he would have in his country therefor if he has little or no rights there why should he have any rights here.

Supreme Court and Big Business. January 21, 2010

You have had to be living in a cave if you are not now aware of the recent Supreme Court decision allowing Big Business to dump millions of dollars into campaign coffers to get those that they want into government. It is not enough that we already are held sway by large corporations with highly paid lobbyist cajoling Senators and Congressmen to vote the way these big business bullies desire.

This is the most egregious assault on us, the voting public, ever known. We all must immediately contact our Congressmen and Senators and have them bring about an effort to get laws written that preclude corporate bigwigs and their giant coffers to put their puppets into office.

This link will take you to a site that will make it easy for you to express your concern.

Now THAT is a mandate. November 5, 2008

With the election of President Elect Barack Obama, a man I am proud to say for whom I voted, I have faith in the belief that we will see a tremendous change in how we are looked at across the world.

I have faith in the belief that we are truely one America an America where anyone can succeed in their chosen career.

I have faith in the belief that our economy will grow and the current financial difficulties will soon fade from our memory.

I have faith in the belief that our children will be able to learn and grow.

I have faith in the belief that health care will be available to one and all.

I have faith in the belief that we will stride harder to harness renewable energies.

The overwhelming victory is a mandate, a mandate for the change we all have sought.

Veterans Day November 11, 2007

The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month eighty-nine years ago marked the end of a brutal war that was supposed to be the war that ended all wars. After being attacked on a bloody day in December this country entered into a conflagration to topple regimes vilified across the world. Warfare in Korea and Viet Nam still linger in the minds of this nation. The current ventures in Afghanistan and Iraq hopefully will end soon. My grandfather fought in World War I, several uncles where deployed in World War II and Korea my turn was Viet Nam and we all lost friends and neighbors in each of these conflicts. Please remember those who have served not just today, everyday.

Open letter to all Americans. October 24, 2007

It matters not if you consider yourself Republican, Democrat, Independent, Liberal, Conservative, Right or Left as long as you call yourself a concerned American this is for you. Each and everyone of us must do whatever it takes to insure that the current administration and its penchant for war is stopped short in its tracks. We cannot allow the warmonger leaders of our country the ability to place us and the world further in harms way. The recent comments about creating World War III, wether taken in or out of context, should scare the living daylights out of one and all. If you believe that Iran is a threat by having nuclear weapons a/k/a weapons of mass destruction, harken back to the day when this government used those words to push us into a conflagration that sees no end in sight. Our attention is best placed fighting the terrorists that brought us to 9/11. We must remove all of your troops, not only from Iran, but Korea, Germany and other nations where we currently have a military presence and send them to Afghanistan and finish what we started – wipe out al Queda and the Taliban and anyone else there that harbours them or gives them aid. If our representatives in the House and Senate cower to the demands of this President and his cronies they must pay the price of being voted out of office and/or impeached. This is madness, pure and simple.
